A few new features here, some new level designs there, and a brand new story add a fresh coat of paint, but underneath it’s the same time management game it’s always been. The only real fault with Roads of Rome: New Generation 2 is that it shares a great deal in common with its predecessors. It’s just enough to keep you consistently engaged amidst the building upgrades and resource management. New features are introduced at a steady clip, dropping in things like wandering hermits who demand resources and a dense fog that has to be cleared in order to progress.
You may not think the workers can walk way over there, but if you give the strange object a click, you might be surprised.Īlthough Roads of Rome: New Generation 2 starts off somewhat slow (seriously, workers, are your boots filled with molasses?), the pace starts to pick up after a handful of levels. There’s an optimal order to do things, of course, but what’s interesting is that you’ll find caches to raid and regen points to harvest that lie far outside the normal routes. One of the most entertaining aspects of New Generation 2 is how non-linear each stage is. There’s no queuing in Roads of Rome: New Generation 2, and power-ups are few and very far in-between. Either way, you’re racing against the clock and need to keep an eye on where your workers are. Occasionally you’ll need to get creative and make enough of a certain resource to meet the criteria. Most of the time it’s simple stuff like “Build a road” or “Destroy all the banners”. Stages in Roads of Rome have a set number of goals that have to be met in order to progress.
You’ll need a lot of everything to fix broken bridges, fill in swamps, and of course, pave the roads like a good Roman citizen. Send workers out one by one to pick up gold, wood, and food for your stores, then use that booty to build things like sawmills and farms to generate even more resources. Each stage takes place in a screen filled with twisted pathways and spawning resource points, all ready to fire your clicking finger into a frenzy.
Roads of Rome: New Generation 2 is a time management game that follows the long-running series that practically invented the genre. All of those unkempt pathways could use a little taming, don’t you think? Summon the workers, we’ve got some roads to build. That won’t stop you from trying, though! The young Valeria is following General Markus as he strikes out to meet the rampaging Vikings, but she finds the state of the countryside isn’t nearly what it should be. Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither were its roads.
This is unacceptable!!! Again if I’m paying hard earned cash for a product, I expect it to meet my needs, if it doesn’t, I expect a full refund! People…don’t waste your hard earned money on this game unless you enjoy purchasing defective junk.Still the same old Roads of Rome game at its core. I decided to give it another try and started over again and the same thing happened. When I got to level 17, I started playing and half way through it booted me off and I lost all of my progress. This game starts out ok…although it seems to have some lag in the actions of the little Romans, I was still able to finish the first 16 levels on time. However when I purchase a game for ANY amt, I expect it to work properly. Not a bad price for some fun entertainment.
I decided to give this new generation a try and purchased the full version for $6. I’ve played all the Roads of Rome games from way back when we all had desk top computers. Just gonna say that after looking through all the reviews I figured by now they’d have fixed all the glitches. Possibility of selecting options of construction and demolition of buildings She seeks a new appointment for herself and together with her squad, she sets off in the rear guard with goal to restore destroyed communities and build roads on the distant frontiers of the Empire. Now mature son of General Victorius, Markus, is leading the troops toward danger, and despite all the admonishments of his lover, leaves her back in Rome.
